  16. This patch is for MHS 1.5 CompuServe Network version.  It corrects the
  17. problem with MHS and 486 50/66 machines experiencing the Runtime Match
  18. Error.  Verify the correct version of MHS before applying the patch.

  38. Novell MHS Patch - M15CN4
  39.  
  40. This patch program repairs the following problems with MHS
  41. 1.5CN Rev.B:
  42.  
  43. 1) When MHS messages are upgraded from SMF-64 to SMF-70, MHS might reject
  44. the message indicating "Bad Expiry Date Header".  This problem occurred
  45. every 256 days; the last known date on which it occurred was January 7,
  46. 1992.
  47.  
  48. 2) MHS would fail when it connected to the Compuserve Mail Hub from outside
  49. the United States, if the connection was made through a data network that
  50. uses 7-bit data.
  51.  
  52. 3) Although it was using the "DISABLED" modem driver, MHS would still
  53. require the selected COM port to be present, and would alter the settings
  54. of that COM port. MHS no longer accesses the COM port when using the
  55. "DISABLED" modem driver.
  56.  
  57. 4) Under some circumstances, the MHS workstation would hang if activity
  58. occurred on the COM PORT while a gateway was running. This has been
  59. corrected.
  60.  
  61. 5) Sometimes during message queue transfers, the warning message "Dangerous
  62. stuff" would appear. The condition causing this problem has been
  63. eliminated.
  64.  
  65. 6) Disk write errors that occur during INET message deliveries are no
  66. longer considered fatal errors. MHS will now count that as 1 failed
  67. connection attempt and continue processing.
  68.  
  69. 7) Some common INET delivery errors used to cause immediate deactivation of
  70. the INET host. All errors now accumulate as single failed connections and
  71. the host is deactivated when the system retry limit is reached.
  72.  
  73. 8) On faster machines, the Connectivity Manager would sometimes terminate
  74. with a fatal runtime (division by zero) error.
  75.  
  76. Note:  The first seven (7) fixes were included in previous patches. This
  77. patch identifies which of these fixes have already been applied and will
  78. only apply those that have not.

  81. TO APPLY THIS PATCH:

  84. 1) Delete PATCH.* from the MHS\SYS directory if you have applied previous
  85. MHS patches.
  86. 2) Copy the files PATCH.EXE and PATCH.RTP to your MHS\SYS subdirectory.
  87. 3) Change directories to your MHS\SYS directory.
  88. 4) Copy the file MHSN.OVR to MHSN.BAK (do NOT use the move command).
  89. 5) Run the program PATCH.EXE (with no parameters).
  90. 6) If the patch succeeds, delete PATCH.EXE and PATCH.RTP.
  91. 7) If the patch fails, rename MHSN.BAK to MHSN.OVR and contact Novell
  92. Technical Support for additional help.
